Learning with Representations

In the presentation of Mr. Churchill. He discussed how relevance a representation would be in terms of learning

There are some factors we should consider:

* Multimedia for learning should be designed in light of how the human mind works

*Visuals and text together take advantage of the full capacity of human for processing of information

*Pictures and words are qualitatively different, however, they can complement each other.

*Learners mentally integrate pictures and text into single internal representations.

*People do not necessary learn better from animation than from static visuals.

*Multimedia Representations as cognitive aids

Quoted by Mayer, 2005 “People can learn more deeply from words and pictures than from words alone”
