MITE 6323: Interactive Representations of Information and Knowledge
Tuesday, March 27, 2007
What we propose for this task is to make an interactive visual representation from the previous task made by my partner (Paula Chian) in the previous module we had.

Previous Module Information:
MITE 6313: Educational Web Publishing module
- the task is to develope one technology-based lesson for web-based delivery that is composed of e-learning environment.

We are both familiar in computers, both studied computer fields and both have an experience in "computers" at the schools we worked at. This will gain our knowledge about making interactive visual representation and could help us in our teaching strategies.

Task 3: Interactive Visualization and Learning Objects
Tuesday, March 20, 2007
Design a Learning object to help student understand what impacts the shape of a raindrop.

This is the learning object me and my partner, Paula Marie Chian, made. We used Macromedia flash to make our learning object more interactive. Informations used are gathered from the internet.

Session 4: Learning with Representations
Learning with Representations

In the presentation of Mr. Churchill. He discussed how relevance a representation would be in terms of learning

There are some factors we should consider:

* Multimedia for learning should be designed in light of how the human mind works

*Visuals and text together take advantage of the full capacity of human for processing of information

*Pictures and words are qualitatively different, however, they can complement each other.

*Learners mentally integrate pictures and text into single internal representations.

*People do not necessary learn better from animation than from static visuals.

*Multimedia Representations as cognitive aids

Quoted by Mayer, 2005 “People can learn more deeply from words and pictures than from words alone”

Task 2: Interactive Visualization and Learning Objects
How can visual and interactive material engage student learning in your discipline?
Can you think of a learning object in your own curriculum?

Task 1: Interactive Visualization and Learning Objects
Work with a small groups of 3 to 4 people and identify one of the designs that is most effective. Note reasons for your choice.

Session 3: Interactive Visualization and Learning Objects
Interactive Visualization is a process of transforming data and information into a visual form allowing someone to explore .Interdisciplinary nature of this activity: computer graphics, electronic engineering, information systems, information science. (Tuffte, 1983)

Interactive Visualization Examples

Interactive Visualization is a process of transforming data and information into a visual form allowing someone to explore .Interdisciplinary nature of this activity: computer graphics, electronic engineering, information systems, information science. (Tuffte, 1983)

Learning object
*utilizes interactive nature of contemporary technology
*It leverages on multimedia capabilities: text, graphics, animation, audio, video, etc.
*As a representation it is not a copy but it stands for something from the world or mind
*It can be reused in different educational contexts (including those unforeseen by the designer).
*It originated with pedagogical intentions and for educational purpose

Task 2: Design a Visual Display
Sunday, March 04, 2007

Our task 2 is to design a presentation about the atmosphere. The task will be done by 2 students. Paula Chian would be my partner in this task. As a start,I made a draft and later will be discussed and analyzed with my partner till we arrive in our primary slide.

This is our draft. Click Here for bigger image
Don't forget to check our final slide at the lower bottom of this blog.

Contents are from wikipedia.com

This would be our final slide

*The problem we got from our draft would be too much text shown.
